Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Celeb City"

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Celeb City"
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
Just your typical blingtastic, metallic, silver foil polish. Good coverage and easy application. I liked this a lot because unlike your average frost, the brush strokes didn’t show up in this. It looks so diva to me and it’s dirt cheap. Gotta love Sally Hansen.

New York Color Quick Dry in "Mulberry Street"

New York Color Quick Dry in "Mulberry Street"
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
This is a great pearlescent neutral frost. I really love using this as a base color for Konad Designs. This with brown printed flowers on top looks really pretty. Alone you definitely get visible nail line, but I think it’s forgivable. It looks very chic without being too dull thanks to the shimmer. The bottle is fairly fragile. I looked in my polish storage to find that the top of this bottle popped clean off. Thankfully I used most of it so it was a minor clean up. What do you expect for .99cents though?

Wet n Wild Mega Last in "Undercover"

Wet n Wild Mega Last in "Undercover"
(Two coats . No top coat. No base coat.)
I know some people don't like this little bottle and brush, but I found it easy to work with and had no problems with it at all. I really love this color. It's a smooth crème colored somewhere between a mauve and a tanned pink. I’m sad that the bottle is so small it’ll be gone soon enough, but it’s cheap enough to buy over and over again. I do kind of like how little this bottle is, cute and compact. This is awesome for Spring and Summer.

Revlon in "Minted"

Revlon in "Minted"
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
I love this color so much. It's such a pretty, soft, creme mint color.  It's a little uneven, but I noticed it’s not as watery as the typical Revlon polishes seem to be. I got it on pretty even and streak free. So I really can’t complain.

Brucci Nail Hardener in "French White Tip"

Brucci Nail Hardener in "French White Tip"
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
This had a pretty thick consistency, which made it heavy, a bit streaky and gooey. Not impressed. This worked great for stamping though because of it's thickness. So I do give it that!

Horrid. I hated these polishes. The brushes were all jacked up. The glitter was cheap and thick. Bubbles galore! Ick. Sooo disappointed in this. Never again!

Pink/Black Patchwork

This is completely inspired by Chloe from Chloe’s Nails, so all the creative credit belongs to her [see here]. It’s my fist time doing anything like this and really using tape extensively. I think it came okay, but I think know where I went wrong. I’m definitely going be doing this again with different color combinations. I also plan on trying out more looks I’ve seen on Chloe’s Nails including her Shredded Mani's which are bad ass.

Christmas Tips

 Christmas Tips!
I don't have long nails so I really can't do a decent french on myself to showcase. Also, my Holly isn't so great so I could only imagine me doing it with my left hand since I'm a righty. I do like the Santa Belt for a ring finger design, keeping the rest a glittered red french. More to come for the holidays<3

Milani 3D Holographic in "Digital"

Milani 3D Holographic in "Digital"
(Two coats . No top coat. No base coat.)
I honestly feel that this looks much better in the photo. I do like this color a lot though. Very pretty with that rainbow grainy look on the nail and the addition of the pink color makes it look so much nicer than "HD". It dried pretty fast and to a dusty finish. It's a shattered holo, so now I'm craving a good linear holo for my next treat. I upload a photo to MUA of me wearing it from my blog [http://manirage.blogspot.com/].

Milani 3D Holographic in "HD"

Milani 3D Holographic in "HD"
Well, this is my first holo and I’m undecided about them. It’s a shattered holo that's not very glossy, but I heard that a top coat takes away from the effect. It definitely looks way better in the photo, that’s for sure. It’s much more subtle on the nail. Maybe it needs some color. I purchased Milani’s “Digital”, which is a pink holo so I’ll have to swatch that and then decide. A big plus I noticed is that these come off just as easy as a regular Crème polish as compared to the difficulty in getting off Glitters.

How To Do Scales

Using:-Nicka Nail Enamel in “Cotton Candy”
-Silver Nail Art Brush
-Hurricane Nail Art Paint in “White”
-Toothpick
Paint your nails a base color with as many coats as needed. Normally one is good enough since there’s going to be some coverage.

After the last coat of polish is applied wait a few minutes and then draw lines lengthwise before the base color finishes drying completely.

After the last coat of polish is applied wait a few minutes and then draw lines lengthwise before the base color finishes drying completely. After you finish your lines take a toothpick and drag it lightly across the nail, perpendicular to the lines. Do this all the way down the nail. Let it dry completely before using a top coat.

Sometimes the polish bunches up at the end, which you can see it mine. What you can do is after it’s DONE drying, you can use a finger to just press it down to flatten it. You have to wait till it’s done drying otherwise you’ll end up with a fingerprint in it. I used two colors here, but you can use one or even more than two. This looks weird on just one finger that cose up, but it looks cool when your whole hand is done.

Revlon in “Beach”

Revlon Scents of Summer Enamel in “Beach”
(Three coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
This is from the 2010 Revlon Scents of Summer Collection. Dislike this green. Overall I think I’m really not a fan of green shimmers. They always look weir don my hands, but I like green so much. It’s not fair! Anyway, this is a green with golden shimmer and tones to it. It’s a thin formula so layer it up for a solid finish. The scent, which is to represent Beach, is that of Sunblock. It’s very strange and unpleasant smell to have on the tip of your fingers.

Revlon in “Peach Smoothie”

Revlon Scents of Summer Enamel in “Peach Smoothie”
(Three coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
This is from the 2010 Revlon Scents of Summer Collection. It’s a slightly pinkish peach with slight gold shimmers. Like most Revlon colors, the formula is thin and thus very sheer. It does hold to its name, because it is very peachy scented. This is one of the strong scented ones in the collection, but it smells so good. I really didn’t expect to love this color, but I do. It has that band-aid nude tone to it, but the shimmer give it a nice pop to keep it fresh. Completes a very sophisticated look.

Revlon Scents of Summer Enamel in “Gum Drop”

Revlon Scents of Summer Enamel in “Gum Drop”
(Four coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
This is from the 2010 Revlon Scents of Summer Collection. This is a really pretty lavender color that comes from a purple/light blue combination. Its downfall is how sheer it is. It took FOUR coats for it to come out with a solid coat. Even after that many coats there’s still a bit of balding on my pointer finger. The smell is faint once it dries. It’s not as strong as “Peach Smoothie”. It has more of a Jolly Rancher/Starburst scent to me. It still smells yummy though. The consistency is a bit watery. I would pass this lavender up for an Essie one. It’s just too sheer meaning too much work for me.

Clean Your Bottles Ladies!

I always try to remember to wipe down my bottles after using them or at least every so often. Today I went to open my O.P.I. Ridge Filler since my nails have been a peeling mess lately and low and behold it's sealed shut. I asked my dad and even he couldn't open it. After awhile of trying he broke out the rubber cord and then the pliers. This was the outcome. Barely used enough to have a proper burial.
RIP O.P.I.... you were so young and apparently oh so unclean.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Gun Metal"

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Gun Metal"
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
I was excited for this color in the hopes that it would actually look like Gun Metal, but alas I was wrong. It has a very deep blue tone to it, which is obvious when you look at the bottle, but I retained my excitement just in case. I rarely have trouble applying the X-Treme line, but given that this is a Frosty polish, you can see the bristles of the brush all throughout the nail. The formula was also quite thick. I think a little bit of thinner would help, but the color is not what I wanted. “Steel-Her-Heart” from Revlon is a better gun metal color than this is.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Fuchia Power"

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Fuchia Power"
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
Love this color. It's a bright pink, fuchsia crème color that offers a lot of coverage in one coat. Formula is a little thick, but that's like most of the X-Treme Wear line and I kind of like that.

White/Gold Scales on Black

The base color is Sinful Colors in “Black on Black”. The scales were created by striping gold and white polish vertically and then dragging a toothpick across the nail horizontally. This started out as a mistake and then this outcome was my way of correcting it. I rather like this look.

Glue On Nails Removal

So after six days of my beautiful Mirror Nails, it’s time to remove them and reunite with my natural nail. I’m already anticipating their damage. I never wear these store bought full coverage glue on nails so I purchased Kiss Artificial Nail Remover to help. It seems better then ripping them off which is where my temptation lies. So here is what they look like now. You can see some damage on the pointer and middle finger mostly on my right hand. On my left the pointer fell off recently and I just kept it off. I don’t know if you can see it, but there is a layer of nasty glue guck stuck on to it. The staining is from a previous nail polish accident where I didn’t use a much needed base coat.

So this is what the inside of the Kiss product looks like. Slot for one finger and a slot for all fingers. I stuck pointer to pinky in the big slot and my thumb in the single for a faster soak.

It says soak for two minutes and then twist against those spikey brushes along the inside wall. It basically started melting off the fake nail which you can see here where my natural tips are beginning to show.

I ended up soaking for about three minutes and then twisting and checking. I checked to see if the nails lifted a bit and then I would stick a toothpick to help ease it up. If it popped off hurray, if it didn’t I eased it up as much as I could and then started twisting it inside the solution again and repeated the lifting. I think if I would have only twisted it and let it melt off it would have taken forever. It took about one episode of “Married… with Children” for me to get all the nails off (almost 30 mins). I think it was worth the five bucks rather than ripping them off.

Broadway Fashion Diva Nail Art in “BGFD02” (Mirrors!)

Broadway Fashion Diva Nail Art in “BGFD02”
Not a fan of glue on nails because they always seem to fall off and damage your nails, but I had to get these. I’ve been obsessed with the mirror nail look ever since that whole trend blew up. No nail polish even comes close to this. The only option to get this look if you don’t want the glue on nails is MINX. I cut and filed these down to about my natural length. These nails are thick, as expected, and they have a bit of a curve in them to follow the natural nail line.  I love how this looks, but I’ll be happy to return to my natural nails when these come off.

I put these on yesterday and I’ve already had about three girls ask me about them which lead into a whole conversation and several other people who complimented them. On the downside I’ve also had four of them that had to be re-glued on after they fell off. I have a strong urge to go to the salon and try out the Minx manicure.

Sally Hansen Color Quick Chrome Pen in “Silver Chrome”

Sally Hansen Color Quick Chrome Pen in “Silver Chrome”
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)

I like this color a lot, but I would go for a bottled version. These pens aren’t the greatest.  It’s a push pen system so sometimes you get too much or too little polish. The polish tends to pool at the top of the brush rather than dripping to the tip. After you paint your nails the wet brush just has a cap placed over it. After you use it once it dries out a bit and the bristles harden, which is where the streakiness and uneven texture comes from.

New York Color Long-Wearing in “French White Tip”

New York Color Long-Wearing in “French White Tip”
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)

Dislike!! This white is very streaky and the consistency is THICK. I did two coats this time, but I’ve done three and it just gets worse and worse. I don’t dislike NYC polishes overall, but with this color you definitely get what you pay for ($0.99). Horrible looking white polish. It’s not even good for using under designs like with Konad or anything because it’s just an uneven final look. Ick.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Green With Envy"

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Green With Envy"

Just your typical bright green Shreky/Apple color. Use a base coat though, this is quite obviously a stainer. Smooth finish, no complaints.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in "Wet Cement"

This is probably my favorite color. It’s goes with anything and is a great base to put under designs. My favorite is putting a black hounds-tooth print on top of this color. Great color, smooth finish, no bubbles, no complaints. Love love love<3

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in “Commander in Chic”

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in “Commander in Chic”
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
This is a great color for fall. I’ve used it several times since its recent purchase. It’s a purple grey combination that has a very toned down look. Very simple and very chic, as its name implies. It has a good consistency so two coats is all you really need. I still use a top coat with this line even though it’s supposed to be a ‘manicure in a bottle’ because I think it helps it last longer. My nails peel on the ends time to time so I would still use a ridge filler before applying this seeing as it doesn’t fill some of my cracks on my tips. This line also utilizes probably my favorite brush ever! Great coverage smooth lines.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in “Right Said Red”

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in “Right Said Red”
(Two coats. No top coat. No base coat.)
This is a great red. It’s vibrant, but has a slightly darkish hue that tones it down and keeps it from being that bright fire truck red. I still use a top coat with this line even though it’s supposed to be a ‘manicure in a bottle’ because I think it helps it last longer. My nails peel on the ends time to time so I would still use a ridge filler before applying this seeing as it doesn’t fill some of my cracks on my tips. I thought this formula was a big watery which I didn’t care for. I felt like I needed to use more coats because of that.
